From Dunhuang to Xinjiang stretches a route across deserts and civilizations. This time Mr. Yier Luo will take us on a journey to the Dunhuang Academy, Xinjiang Museum, Hotan Regional Museum and the National Museum of Iran. We will explore the Kucha Grottoes, the ancient ruins of Loulan, and the other‑worldly Yardang landforms. We will travel from flying apsaras, the Nine‑Colored Deer and Journey to the West, to the ancient kingdom of Jingjue featured in Notes on Tomb Raiders. From the brocade inscribed with “When five stars appear in the east, China shall prosper”, to Persian cultures brought along the Silk Road. Through relics, myths and pop‑culture, we will gain a fresh understanding of this vibrant hub of cultural exchange.
